Where to Eat In Shoreditch 2020

2nd October 2020

Home to some of London’s most innovative and exciting eateries, Shoreditch is a must-visit for any foodie. From pop-up dining to well-established restaurants, you will be spoilt for choice by the never-ending selection on offer in the go-to East London destination. We’ve whittled down our favourite places to eat in 2020 to help make your selection just that little bit easier.

Due to the current circumstances, some of the sites mentioned below may be temporarily closed or have restricted opening hours.

Gloria

Undoubtedly one of East London’s most Instagrammable restaurants, Gloria manages to catapult its diners straight into a decadent, 1970’s-esque Capri from the moment you walk through the door. Presenting quirky-yet-ritzy interiors matched with a killer Italian menu marrying classics with some fun twists, Gloria’s over-the-top aesthetic stands out from the crowd in a location where eccentricity is rife.

Lahpet

Bringing Burmese cuisine to London, Lahpet is one of the capital’s only restaurants specialising in this kind of Asian gastronomy. At this buzzy eatery, Head Chef Zaw Mahesh serves up outlandishly good authentic plates, from the to-die-for coconut noodles to Lahpet Thohk (or fermented tea leaf salad). Superb waiting staff and delicious cocktails only add to the fact that Lahpet is one of Shoreditch’s best kept secrets. If there’s one thing that’s for certain with Lahpet, it’s that it will keep you going back time and time again.

BRAT Restaurant

If you’re looking for great atmosphere matched with even better food, BRAT should be your first port of call. One of the capital’s most exciting new restaurants, BRAT already has a Michelin star to its name and a very loyal following of regular diners. Taking inspiration from the style of cookery found in the Basque country, the chefs at BRAT specialise in cooking over fire, with sustainable fish being the common theme of the menu.

Leroy

An eight minute walk from Shoreditch High Street will lead you to the delectable delights of Leroy. With a no-fuss kind of atmosphere, this Michelin starred restaurant and wine bar comes highly recommended if you’re after a warm welcome, a vinyl soundtrack and a seasonal menu.

Blacklock Shoreditch

Set within an old furniture factory, Blacklock Shoreditch is well-known for serving up exceptional grass-fed British meat, cooked over a blistering charcoal grill. Having travelled the length and breadth of the country in search of the best quality produce, the team behind Blacklock pride themselves on dishing up meat which has lived a fulfilling life on the fields and moors of Cornwall. With the star of the show without question being their range of chops, a visit to Blacklock will absolutely satisfy any meat-eater’s craving.

Kenza

We can’t talk about dining out in Shoreditch without mentioning Lebanese hidden treasure, Kenza. Bringing out the very best of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine passed down from generation to generation, this traditional restaurant has a fun-yet-relaxed vibe, effortlessly accompanied by a menu bursting with vibrant colour and divine flavour combinations. With a picturesque dining setting, the glamorous décor offers a solid nod to the restaurant’s heritage, whilst the mezze-style menu means it’s wholly acceptable to order a bit of everything.

Som Saa

Top-notch Thai food is the name of the game at Som Saa. Offering a well-rounded menu from the northern provinces of Thailand, the tremendously popular whole deep-fried seabass is by far the restaurant’s hero dish. Attentive service coupled with a great location – just a one minute walk from Spitalfields Market – Som Saa is a superb setting for something different. Birthed from a successful crowdfunding exercise following a number of years serving eager diners at various pop-up locations, Som Saa has evolved into one of the area’s most beloved eateries.
