One of Shakespeare’s least documented theatres – dating back to the 1600s where it is thought that plays such as Henry V premiered – is about to undergo a massive excavation to reveal the hidden mysteries of the building and the ‘cultural makeup’ of Shoreditch, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of the playwright’s death. The remains of The Curtain Theatre will then be preserved in-situ within Galliard’s brand new mixed-use development, The Stage.
